Happy Holidays to all. In response to a fellow physician on another website, I wrote the following. This doctor was dismayed at spending Christmas away from family and dealing with drug seekers in the ER. I hope this brings my fellow working physicians comfort in their holiday endeavors.

To this doctor:
So MANY of my holidays have been spent caring for the ill. I have had Christmas dinner out of a puke pan w/ tongue blade forks so many times I can’t count. No one in the world will ever know the sacrifice you made, except you and your family. Rejoice in the fact that you chose a profession which allows you to serve humankind. That happens on Christmas, too. The drug seekers are in pain, also, with their addictions. So as you say no, do it with love and respect in your eyes, as there by the grace of god go I. So here we are again. This year, I don’t spend it with the puke pans and tongue blades, but I think of all of you out there doing it and send you lots of love and blessings for your special and important work.
Here is wishing no trauma codes upon the families you care for!! Merry Christmas!!
With much love and respect,
Dr. Sennholz
